Albany Trip

So Adam and I went to the Albany area to visit his brother and family last weekend. We didn’t end up going skiing as we didn’t want to have to get up too early and the conditions weren’t that great (icy apparently). It’s just as well because skiing for me usually doesn’t go very well. I’ve never actually gotten hurt (just very sore) but I do usually fall off the chairlift trying to get off and once started sliding down the hill backwards (luckily I was able to catch myself). I’m sure Adam would have had fun, but I would have probably headed for the lodge after one or two runs.
On Friday we arrived and just spent time hanging out before ordering pizza for dinner and watching “Wanted” (after the little kids were asleep). The movie had pretty cool special effects, but not much of a plot or anything else. Worth it if you want to see Angelina Jolie’s butt and people doing crazy gun tricks but that’s about it.
Saturday we slept in and I played with the kids while their mom went for a run and Adam and his brother played video games. The kids were so cute, they wanted to play football, which involves them running around the house and me trying to take the football away from them (and of course never succeeding) them occasionally “tackling” me. They’re 2 and 4 so they’re really cute and I definitely had fun. Later we wanted to go sledding, but we only had one sled, so we went to Wal-Mart to find some, but there were NO SLEDS! In the middle of winter in upstate New York! Adam’s sister-in-law had pretty much checked everywhere else already so there were no sleds to be had and we just hung out at the house again. We watched “Traitor” that night, which I thought was good, albeit a bit slow, but Adam didn’t like very much. He thought they were trying to make too much of a political point, which I can see, but I still found it interesting.
And that was pretty much it. More playing with kids and video games Sunday before we came home. Then we “watched” the Super Bowl (aka I watched the commercials and did some reading while the game was going on). Although we didn’t do a lot it was a good weekend. We’re hoping to plan another trip for sometime in February, so we’ll keep you updated once we decide on where to go!
